ART EXHIBITION

Emil Bott: Beaver County’s Forgotten Artistic Treasure

June 5 – September 5, 2026 | Merrick Art Gallery

In the mid-19th century, artist Emil Bott captured the rivers and hillsides of Beaver County with a sensitivity and skill that made his work admired throughout Western Pennsylvania. Though celebrated in his lifetime, Bott’s paintings, sketches, and lithographs gradually dispersed into private homes and family collections, leaving much of his legacy hidden from public view.

Today, thanks to renewed research and community partnerships, Bott’s work is re-emerging as a vital part of Beaver County’s cultural story. His river landscapes, commemorative lithographs, and rare surviving sketches reveal an artist deeply attuned to the region’s identity during a period of national transformation.
